Terms of service
Last updated 2 November 2026.
These terms are an agreement between you and HelpCarry, Motzfeldts gate 23, Oslo, Norway ("we"). By creating an account or posting, you accept them. Please also read our privacy policy.
1. What HelpCarry is
HelpCarry is a free noticeboard that helps people find travellers who can carry documents or small items, or a travel companion. We are not a carrier, courier, freight forwarder, travel agent or escrow service, and we are not a party to any arrangement between members. Members deal with each other directly and are responsible for what they agree.
2. Who can use it
- You must be 18 or older, and you confirm this before you post, offer or connect.
- One account per person, with true information. No fake profiles, impersonation or accounts for someone else.
- Members use HelpCarry as private individuals, not as a business. If you act as a trader (for example you carry items for a living), you must not use HelpCarry. Because both sides are private individuals, EU consumer protection rights that apply to purchases from businesses (such as the right of withdrawal) do not apply to arrangements between members.
3. What we check, and what we don't
We do not check identity documents or phone numbers, and no member is "verified". The only check is that each member signed in with Google or with a code sent to their email address. What we offer on top: reviews from completed bookings, Scam Shield warnings in chat, the inspect-and-seal handover with a Proof Pack record, and moderation of reports. These reduce risk but cannot remove it. Use your own judgement before agreeing to anything.
4. No payments through us
HelpCarry charges no commission and does not process, hold or guarantee any payment. Any fee or tip is agreed directly between members and paid directly, ideally in person at handover. Never pay in advance, by gift card or crypto, or to someone you have not met. Any money you exchange is at your own risk, and we cannot recover it.
5. Customs, law and banned items
- The traveller and the sender are each responsible for following the customs, import, export, aviation-security and other laws of every country involved, including declaring items and paying any duty.
- Banned: anything illegal, dangerous or restricted; weapons; drugs; medicines for someone else; cash, cards or valuables you cannot explain; live animals; and any item you cannot open and inspect.
- Travellers should inspect every item before accepting it, use the inspect-and-seal handover, and refuse anything they are unsure about. Never carry a closed package for someone.
6. Meeting safely
Meet in a busy public place (for example an airport or café), in daylight where possible, and tell someone where you are going. Keep the conversation in the app until you have met. If you feel unsafe, leave. In an emergency, call local emergency services first. Report problems in the app. See the Safety centre.
7. Your content and conduct
- You are responsible for what you post. Be honest and respectful: no fraud, scams, harassment, hate, spam, or sharing other people's personal data without permission.
- You keep ownership of your content. You give us a free, non-exclusive licence to host and show it in HelpCarry for as long as it is on the service.
- We may remove content, limit features or suspend accounts that break these terms or put others at risk. Where we can, we tell you why, and you can ask us to look again at contact@helpcarry.com.
8. Responsibility between members, and our liability
Arrangements are between members. Each member is responsible to the other for what they agreed, and for any loss, damage, delay or confiscation they cause. HelpCarry is provided free and "as is"; we do not promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from arrangements, meetings or items between members, or for indirect losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for gross negligence or intent, or your mandatory consumer rights.
9. Ending
You can stop at any time and delete your account in Profile → Delete account. Deletion waits while an item is in transit or a dispute is open. We may close accounts that break these terms, and we may change or end the service with reasonable notice.
10. Changes
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change applies. If you keep using HelpCarry after that, the new terms apply.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Norwegian law, and disputes go to Oslo District Court (Oslo tingrett). If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring a claim there. Please contact us first at contact@helpcarry.com; most problems can be solved quickly.
